Blood Pressure Cuff - Highest Rated And Most Popular

The xblood xpressure xcuff is one of the most essential parts of a blood pressure monitor. It is used to apply pressure to the arm so that the actual blood pressure can be measured.

As the air is gradually released from the cuff, the monitor measures the blood pressure as well as the corresponding heart rate.

When blood pressure monitors were first sold to consumers, it was necessary to inflate the blood pressure cuff manually. Today, however, the manual blood pressure cuff has been mostly replaced by the automated digital blood pressure cuff. With these modern monitors, the cuff that can be inflated simply by pushing a button.

Importance of Blood Pressure Cuff Size

Cuffs come in a variety of sizes. And to get the most accurate results from your monitor, when purchasing it, make sure that it comes with a cuff size that will fit you. After 3 try and fail incidents with other cuff brands, I stumbled across this cuff, and I am happy I did! This cuff comes assembled, and it is VERY well made.

Simply touching this cuff, you can tell the quality level is quite high, and very durable. The gauge is metal, and very large. It's quite easy to read the gauge, it glows in the dark, so it can be used in low-light conditions with ease. I am very happy I bought this!

This is an excellent cuff for the field. It has an artery indicator on the cuff to save time during triage/treatment and size range index to know if it's a proper fit. Pair it with a Littmann and you're set. Just one note: IT IS NOT LATEX-FREE!

I purchased the Lifesource large cuff to go along with the LifeSource Blood Pressure Monitor with AccuFit Extra Large Cuff that already included an extra large cuff. The two cuffs are easily interchangeable and it's more of a plug and play system.

Very simple to use. Overall, the cuff itself is very durable and will last a long time. The cuff adjusts easily and has clear instructions printed right on it. It's simple to use each and every time.

I bought this ADC model and a friend of mine bought the prestige model. The prestige has a nicer cuff (satin material), but the hose connection to the pump on the prestige comes loose easily. However, the satin cuff does make for more comfort and is more flexible, allowing one to fold the cuff to see the gage better; where as the ADC model's cuff is very stiff and hard to bend.

Since this is my first attempt at gauging my blood pressure, I do it on right and left wrist and the numbers are similar I average both numbers and input that numbers in weekly records. Take the 10 breaths to relax and I elevate my arm so it's at the same level of my heart, and seems to accurate.

Try to relax and I wish I could give you more information, but compared to the other reviews on similar wrists monitor this one by far seems to be a good value and if you follow the directions you should be able to receive pretty accurate readings. As you know wrist monitors are not as accurate as arm cuffs, so just be aware of that fact, but so far I am happy with my purchase.

How To Inflate A Blood Pressure Cuff

Doctor shows how to properly inflate an aneroid blood pressure monitor.

Ambulatory Blood Pressure Cuffs

Most of the time you will take your measurements at certain times of the day. You will put your cuff on, take your measurement, then remove it. In certain instances, however, your doctor may want to get an accurate idea of how your blood pressure fluctuates throughout the day.

blood pressure cuffIn this case, he may require you to wear what is known as an ambulatory blood pressure monitor. With this type of monitor, you will not remove the blood pressure cuff after each use. Instead, you will wear it throughout the day. The most advanced types can be programmed to automatically inflate at predetermined specified intervals and take your blood pressure with no needed manual intervention from you.

Blood Pressure Cuffs Designed For Different Parts Of The Body

Most blood pressure cuffs are designed for use on the upper arm. This is also, typically, where your doctor will place the cuff as well when taking your pressure. Specialized cuffs are, however, made for other parts of the body as well. Today, you can get cuffs that are designed to be placed on the forearm, wrist, and even the finger.

If you purchase a modern automatic digital blood pressure monitor, many will come with cuffs designed to automatically inflate to the correct pressure. And the prices are generally easily affordable for those who would like an automatic blood pressure monitor for home use.

If you arm is the size of a mini-thigh this cuff is for you! My husband has pretty large arms and was unable to share my Omron digital blood pressure monitor until now. ...Really great for anyone who does not have the average size arm. I would recommend that you measure your arm first before buying it to ensure that you are within 13-17'. This cuff should not be used by anyone who has a smaller arm since you will not obtain accurate blood pressure readings.

The Omron digital blood pressure monitor is one of the more popular pieces of blood pressure equipment on the market. Most of the newer models come with self inflating and adjusting cuffs.

I like this device-- it's very affordable and works well. I bought one to test and have been pleased with its accuracy and ease of use on myself and patients...In addition, it stores 14 readings so you can take it to the doctor and let him review your last 14...I think this is a must for anyone with borderline to high BP as they can easily test their own BP at home and avoid that "white coat" elevation that is common when the only readings are in the doctor's office...I recommend it highly.

This product is very well made and comes with a bonus hard plastic travel case. This unit requires two (2) "AAA" batteries, which are NOT included in the box. Set up was very simple and this unit is extremely easy to use. Large digital readings and previous 99 reading memory capacity is also an excellent feature on this model. Measurement readings take approximately 90 seconds, slightly longer than other models, but if you are sitting comfortably at a table or lying in bed, the time passes more quickly (just remember to try and sit still without talking, for a more accurate reading). In my opinion, this model meets all of my expectations for a home, easy-to-use BP and heart rate monitor...

It is worth noting, however, that measurements taken from different points of the body require a different baseline as they will almost certainly differ from each other. For example, in the same person, a blood pressure measurement taken where the cuff is taken at the upper arm will, most likely, differ from the measurement where the cuff is placed on the forearm. As a result, for a valid comparison when comparing blood pressure levels, you have to be sure that the measurements were taken the same way.
